Branding Challenge Series
It has been a while since I have shared my new, great happenings and challenges. Everyone wants to find their path in this life. Sometimes your path is apparent immediately. Sometimes you happen upon it, usually after struggle or self-reflection. I have been on a path of self-discovery and self-worth. I have been contemplating how to combine my uncontrollable need to help people, my years of knowledge, and my love for travel. (Oh and have I mentioned that I am a TALKER?) This past weekend, I went to Rochelle Toga-Figa’s workshop, Speak Like a Pro and Make Money Doing It. I have been interested in speaking for a while now…but really hadn’t a clue how to start, if I was a good speaker and if I had worthy information to speak about.
I am Different
What I found out in this class, aside from the first five-minute jitters, is that I really like being on stage—and with a bit of practice, I could be pretty good at it. This classroom of professionals told me that I have a good stage presence, good energy and that they can feel my passion. (Like so many people have told me in the past.) But this time it is different. Why? Because I am different. I am more open to hear my strengths and my talents. In the past, I would always compare myself to others and say, I may have a talent, but it will need to be really developed before I can put myself out there. That was the perfectionist in me and what would happen is I would never be satisfied and eventually do nothing. Not anymore. I am worthy and deserving and I CAN DO IT.
My Voice
Do I have worthy information to speak on? I believe so. I am passionate on several different topics. Branding: not many businesses seem to truly understand the significance of branding and branding effectively. Weight-loss: since recently losing over 20 pounds, I am happy to share how I learned to retrain my mind on viewing food and the reasonable steps I take to maintain my weight (without exercise). And lastly, marriage: I have been married for 14 years. Coming from a volatile family, the beginning years of marriage wasn’t as smooth of a transition as I would like to remember it, but through continual communication, growth and love we are now a powerful force. I am sure what steps we took to become that powerful force could be applied to millions of struggling marriages.
In the Spotlight
After the Speak Like a Pro workshop, I now feel I know a bit more on how to start making this all happen. I would definitely recommend this workshop for anyone who is interested in getting their message out there through speaking. Thank you to Rochelle and every one of my classmates in helping me discover this new outspoken me.
So, please consider me as a speaker for your next event by contacting me. I can send an outline of my signature speech. I will be making changes to my blog and website highlighting this new, exciting avenue soon.
